I like Aerosmith as a band and have owned a couple of albums on CD in the past. I stumbled on this album by accident. I was watching random music videos on YouTube one evening and came across Dream On. I loved that one track so much I made sure I found the album it belonged to so I could add it to my personal collection.

Side one was excellent and pure but early Aerosmith. Tyler almost sounds like a different singer with most of the tracks coming over with cleaner vocals than I a used to. Not quite the raw and screaming sound I was used to.

Side two continued to impress me. Despite being a used record it had clearly been cared for by the previous owner.

Album opinion: I love this record. Clearly Dream On is the reason to own it as it is a stand out track on the album and the cost of purchase was worth it just for that one song. That said the rest of the album is really enjoyable and gives a glimpse into what Aerosmith became by the time Permanent Vacation was released. I love this early release though. It is rare that bands that were strong before I was aware of rock n roll give me a happy vibe. I usually love an artists later stuff over the really early music. Not so in this case. in fact I think this is my second favourite Aerosmith album of all time. If you already like Aerosmith then this is a must find. If you are not that keen on them, this could be the album that swings your opinion.

Overall this record is excellent and I am happy to have stumbled on it by accident, although I am sure I would have found it in the end as I keep collecting.

Conclusion – a fantastic addition to the library
