Blondie was music that came just before I developed my own tastes as a child. I first heard this one (along with some stuff by Rush and Talk Talk) from a babysitter. I thought I was too old for a babysitter at the ripe old age of 10 but that’s kids for you. I bought this during a browsing session on Discogs. not because Blondie is something I would choose to listen to, more because it was part of my past, my life story if you will.

Side one started playing and I was left cold. This really is not my bag. part from “Hanging on the Telephone” I was cold. The quality of the record was great. Low noise and great sound but I knew this was going to be a hard one to listen to.

Side two left me feeling no different than side one. Rare for me to not be excited by listening to a new record.

Album opinion: With the exception of one track the whole album left me cold. I feel this record is for a certain age group and is very much of its time. So much in fact that it just does not transcend that time. not like stuff from the sixties or the eighties can do. This is a freeze frame moment and will only appeal to a specific audience.

Overall I am happy to own the record. I just don’t feel I will be listening to it much. You never know, I might feel better about it in a decade, right now I will store it as an archive of a fixed point in time rather than a place I want to revisit.

Conclusion – an OK addition to the library.
