Daft Punk was a band that was firmly off my radar

.I mean I liked the Tron soundtrack they did and knew about some catchy tunes they did but they never dreamed out and shouted listen to all my stuff. Somewhere along my vinyl journey I really discovered them. At the time of writing this is my only Vinyl but I do have their complete works on my media server.

Side one played perfectly, which is what you would expect for a brand new record. Just a shame that so many pressings are a little dodgy when new. Not the case here. Opening up with One More Time, I was hooked and nodding away right up until he end of track three. What?!! this is a double album and there are just three tracks per side. For the purpose of this post, I will treat each vinyl as one side..

Side two continued to impress me. In fact, listening on vinyl was much better than the FLAC files I had been using to get my Daft Punk Fix.

Album opinion: This band are excellent and I am gutted to have discovered them so late in their career. They are not hard core dance, which is a mistake I made. The tunes are much more nuanced than that. If you sit down and listen to this album properly, you find so many layers and depth to the compositions of the music. Even if you don’t like dance / electronic music, this album is by far their best. Listening to it once does not do it justice. Even on the fourth or fifth session with this masterpiece you will find yourself moving deeper into the tunes. Throughout the 50 plus records I have added to my collection so far in 2026, this is one of the top 5 purchase I am planning on adding the Tron soundtrack to the stable but that is more my film, comic, nostalgia nerd tendencies. Homework might also feature in the future but right now I think this particular album is their truest sound.

Overall this record is excellent and I am like going to need a second copy as this one will start showing signs of wear from multiple playback sessions.

Conclusion – a fantastic addition to the library
