Who doe not love Any Lee? Bring me to life is an epic track. I had to own this album and had no idea there was a special edition reissue. I am not bothered about extra bits usually and prefer the unfettered and as original as possible version of an Album. I was however interested in the additional content focussed on my favourite tracks. This also marked the 9th review I was typing up with days worth more to work my way through to get the site current with my collection as it stands today. I just need to stop collecting faster than I am writing. As such I have added a little more content and each review will start to go more in depth.

Record one Was everything I expected. A good pressing, great songs and, as I sit hear listening to the tail end of side two, I am getting to know tracks I had not heard before with my favourites being on playlists rather than dedicated listening feeds for the artist. Bring me to Life, My Immortal and Going Under being the premium tracks.

Record two starts strong but it is not a massive change to the version of My Immortal on side one. Perhaps a little more refined. Well until you hit the heavier guitar end of the record. I would imaging this is the version more likely to be heard in a bar. The other tracks are good but what I was really keen to listen was the strings version. If any song suited an arrangement with strings then this was the one. Was I disappointed? Oh no, what an excellent arrangement. Possibly better than the original but if they had released this it would have likely never charted – such a shame – now I need to find a FLAC of this so I can listen to it in the car or when I am walking the dogs.

I do feel that the other tracks suck as Breathe No More deserve some credit. They would never have been massive in the charts but they are very good and I really enjoyed them. The acoustic (demo) version of bring me to life is also worth a special mention here too.

Album opinion: Just fantastic. I do seem to be favourable on some albums as I buy what I like (mostly) and the negative reviews will likely be more about certain pressings or the quality of the used purchase. The first vinyl covering the original album is excellent but I feel side one is much stronger than side two. Side two is awesome but OI think more for new content and variations on tracks that I know and love. Overall the pressing is great, the mastering good, the quality great and the songs are awesome and rich with detail.

Record two seemed a lot clearer than the first. I presume because this side was mastered from scratch for this release rather than being a reworking of a mastering session that was originally done in the prime of CD dominance.

Conclusion – a fantastic addition to the library I will have to be careful not to play too much.
