Wiim Ultra

After going down the small class D rack kit I found myself loving the sound but wanting something that felt a little more polished, more grown up, better looking. I was already looking for a steamer and the Wiim was on my to buy list. I had not done a lot of research though and was quite surprised to find out all it could do when it arrived. It rapidly replace all the other components in my rack as the central source for all my music to run through.

Overall: The value on the Wiim is outstanding. It is more than capable of handling all your music, no matter what form it comes in. I find the DAC a little underwhelming but solid. That said you can bypass the DAC by using the optical out to your main DAC or, in my case, to use the better sounding DAC that is found in the vivelink amp.

Should you buy one? As far as I can concerned yes. The app is great, it works without the app too so future redundancy is covered. If you like your vinyl and cd’s but have a decent music library in digital form – this is the box for you.
